One Month

One Month

I can’t believe it, you have one month on this earth under your belt, little one! The day you came into your father’s and my life was filled with so much anticipation, struggle, and so much happiness. Could you see the love pouring through my tearful eyes as we met gazes? Could you feel your mother melt as she held you for the first time? For as long as I live, I will never forget that day I met you.

As much as I fought through the pain that came with your arrival, all the pain in the world could not tarnish the joy I felt when I heard your soft whimpers as you gasped your first breath. Nothing else at that moment mattered, least of all myself. There was pure magic in that room at that moment that swept away all the hurt.

Now we are a month away from that magical day, and I am filled with more love for you than ever before. How could that be? From the outside looking in, I haven’t gotten more than a couple hours sleep at a time, I rush through eating, showers and chores, I am working through those extra pounds I so happily put on while you were inside me, and worry as much as I ever have in my life. But past all that, just one look at your sweet face makes it all worth it, and those “negative” aspects of motherhood are swept away. I have you, my beautiful, healthy, sweet boy.

It is incredible, only a couple weeks have passed, and yet my whole life has been changed forever. What power you have over me! I am so proud to be your mommy, and I thank God for allowing me to have you every single day. I hope you will never forget how much you are loved and treasured, my sweet boy, and expect that love to grow as you do.

Happy One Month Birthday!
